Selling apple cider at the farmer’s market in Green Prairie, Texas is a sweet tradition that has passed down, from generation to generation, in Heidi Miller’s family.
When she returns home, from her position as a Professor of Literature, in South Texas, for fall break, tragedy strikes at her family’s orchard. Her sweet, almost painfully introverted brother, Mike is immediately catapulted into being the object of a murder investigation.
Mike is a shy guy, and is the first person that the neighbors call, when one of their farm animals goes into labor or gets hurt. He just has a way with soothing the souls of distressed creatures.
Without intending to, Mike’s kind and helpful nature creates a rivalry that will make him a primary suspect.
Heidi springs immediately into action, trying to get to the bottom of the mystery. With an interview for tenure coming up quickly, she doesn’t have long to find the real killer.
