Gil Reever had no idea what he would be letting himself in for when he agreed to escort two young women to Dodge City after they were left orphaned by the death of their guardian. Especially as one of the girls, Aiyana, became a thorn in his side, and as the journey continued, she proved to be the most infuriating and troublesome female, it had ever been his misfortune to meet. However, there was more to the enigmatic girl than just her annoying behavior. She was capable of making things happen, that he would never have believed to be possible had he not witnessed first-hand what she was able to achieve simply by using the power of her mind. So, it was inevitable that, because of her exasperating conduct, she would, sooner or later, bring down trouble upon their heads. But equally inevitably, she found herself using her magic, to save them all as danger dogged them nearly every step of the journey.
As the time passed, her powers increased and became more potent, until there was little, she couldn't make happen, and despite saving Gil's life on more than one occasion, he refused to believe she had magical powers, but instead, simply assumed, she had been lucky, or had used some kind of trickery. But she wasn't entirely invincible, as she discovered when she eventually, met her match, and both her and Gil, found themselves in mortal danger, and this time, Aiyana would need every bit of her incredible power to come to her rescue, if Gil and her were to survive.
